on:the vlog channel:man when's the last time i did one of:those but yeah i'm genuinely excited and:passionate about this it's the first:ever ipod and it's complete with the box:too:it wasn't cheap so hopefully this vlog:and what i'm gonna use it for in the:main channel will help recoup the cost:of this purchase thank you youtube for:allowing me to buy collectible junk and:write them off on my

taxes we have the fragile sticker

 which:could be a good or bad thing because:sometimes mailmen see this and do the:opposite the package does look in pretty:good shape so yeah i think they treated:this one good and the seller told me:that they insured it but when i checked:the insurance amount it was only a:hundred dollars which is way way less:than what i paid for it i'll get into:that later let's check if the contents:on the inside survived:tada:all right the box they used is pretty:interesting too:it's an inverted xbox  box as you can:see they told me this over messages so i:expected this but wow the first:generation one i wonder if this box is:worth something if it is i'm really:getting my money's worth since they:didn't charge me extra for this:don't worry i'm keeping it so i gotta:open it extra careful up yeah i want to:keep this box so maybe i shouldn't be:using a screwdriver to open this what if:i cut into the ipod box oh no the value:ah is this the right way okay yes it is:i've never had an xbox .

this box just opens up like a book let's:open it up once again:and there she is it's starting to tear:at the middle so i really gotta be:careful just like all the other:pretentious unboxers let's set aside the:main stuff and check out the paperwork:first ipod getting started:oh great it's in a road map style i'm:not gonna know how to fold this back up:even though it's six squares old ibook:there and old itunes we just fold this:back then yeah a really cool poster:maybe i'll frame it and hang it up okay:what other paperwork do we have oh the:boring stuff we can no longer do limited:product warranty registering your ipod:yeah i think it's a bit too late for:both this is supposed to go like this:who says i only break things i can fix:things too:oh got some spit on that:let that dry out anything funny or:interesting in these:do not use while driving:was texan driving a thing back in :because if not the ipod was way ahead of:its time do not make repairs yourself oh:my god anti-right to

 whatever:there we go:now there is one thing missing from the:paperwork which is an install cd for:itunes i think i did ask the seller:about that but they said that they:didn't see it but if they do see it they:said they'll send it over to me which i:like thank you for the effort hopefully:the cd itself isn't that valuable or:rare what else is in the accessories:part the firewire cable:could be a little bit cleaner the:firewire charging brick:and these are the earbuds they included:hopefully cleaned yeah they're apple:branded but they're not the original:earphones that came with this ipod the:seller told me that these were from the:ipod mini era pretty sure that's a:microphone also judging by the three:ring aux cable so i don't know if this:is from the mid ipod era maybe from the:early iphone era i don't know and here:we have the ipod itself:there's you guys you can see as the back:is not that scratched anything else in:here we want to be careful the styrofoam:is probably rare too i just find a bag:of drugs guess that's it there is secret:code on the styrofoam so you know it's:legit all right set the rest aside to:focus on this

i'm not that excited about 

seeing this:because this is not my first first:generation ipod but this is my first:first generation ipod box so yeah i'm:more excited about the box let's see if:it still has battery:oh no battery guess we have to plug it:in but before we do here's that one:imperfection that the seller told me:about if you could see that small crack:there i think that's a common issue so:i'm not too worried about it do the:serial numbers actually match i better:not be scammed:yep they match so no refund they:couldn't be bothered to clean out the:dead skin gunk on the hold button so i'm:pretty sure they didn't clean the:earphones either:earwax the physical scroll wheel also:seems to kinda get stuck in one area:refund or maybe i can clean it who knows:okay let's charge her up and see if she:works cause there's still a possibility:of a refund all right plug her in let's:see if she works:okay okay:hmm:oh there we go:and we're gonna let that charge for a:while and check it out later all right:fully charged let's see if this battery.

it does the:seller also said she never replaced the:battery so this is the original and the:person who sold it told me that there:was an album on here yes there it is the:beatles:one song i'm pretty sure she told me:there was an album full of beatles songs:but maybe i'm wrong but i guess there's:only one song oh never mind here's the:rest of the beatles songs i don't know:why there was only one there alright:once again everything works like the:scroll wheel and all the buttons work i:made sure of that and music plays i can:show you for a few seconds but not much:longer because of copyright:okay that's enough backlight  yes:beautiful the only flaw with it is that:the scroll wheel gets randomly stuck and:feels sticky in some areas so we're:gonna clean that one of the only online:tutorials i found on how to clean this:scroll wheel recommends doing this to:take the scroll wheel off:ah it's not working let's try that again:do it:fast there we go okay that part's smooth:yeah i'm just violating this ipod right:now i think i found the culprit someone:spilled a substance in here so i'm just:gonna spray a bit of alcohol on that and:scrub it out:the seller didn't mention this in the:listing little nub too

break something:i'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks:this is weird looks like there's some:gunk inside of here too:get that hold button gunk off too:beautiful:deep clean just to be sure:now this part too:i'm kidding i'm kidding:feels good:and now we have a fully working:first-gen ipod let's do something i:haven't done in a long time which is:actually by music i would do youtube to:mp but i want to support the creators:and also i am too lazy right now to:download each song individually and:rename the title and the artist for them:to be right so yeah buying music legally:yeah:also it's another tax write-off bye now:to figure out how to get all this onto:this:hmm:i know that current max still supports:the first ipod but you have to get a:bunch of dongles so we're going to find:a different way thumb drive on a dongle:it looks kind of stupid to the rescue:and we drag and drop:i said we drag:and drop:we drag we drop there we go why doesn't:that one have cover art uh lcd uh:whatever this doesn't display cover art:anyway this is the newest macbook i have:that has firewire so
